Updated 11/26 - It’s working! It’s working! A little less than three weeks after starting this site, NFL coaches are catching on; KTD.com must be the pressure! Mike Holmgren tugged on Super Man’s cape and snuck away with a W & no TD returns but then Mike Shanahan tried to do the same and wouldn’t you know it, Devin made him pay, oh and pay he did…TWICE. So we have to thank the hundreds of you who have signed the petition and of course, Mike Shanahan (more on him to come). You gotta believe that the powers that be in the NFL realize that having the 3rd largest city in America interested in football is a good thing and that the best way to do that is to Kick to Devin.
KickToDevin.com is about righting a wrong, about putting the fun back in Sundays, about bringing Hester back. If the coaches themselves don’t realize that they are ruining the game then we need to band together and have the NFL save itself. We need to protect the American public from coaches depriving you of a highlight reel of action. I’m talking about coaches who don’t kick to Devin Hester, coaches who’d rather kicked it out of bounds, to a 300lb Up Man or even in Lake Michigan. There is nothing like Devin Hester in the game today. He provides more entertainment than the entire NFC South combined. He’s more electric than ComEd. I’ve seen Soulja Boy do the Hester dance. Brittany’s paparazzi takes a break when Devin’s back to return. Baseball Tonight shows Devin’s returns, Hockey Night in Canada talks Hester at halftime during intermissions.
(*Some of the above may not yet have happened but it will or it should, we think)
Through 8 games Devin has been kicked to 42 times…he’s been kicked away from 44 times. That’s 44 times America has missed out on the most exciting moment in sports. And for what? For some coach to win a football game? What’s the point, the Patriots are going to win the Super Bowl anyways, and everyone else is just playing for 2nd place. These coaches are depriving hard working Americans of amazing highlights just for a chance at 2nd place. That doesn’t sound very American to me; that sounds like something Canada would do. Well we don’t like Hockey and we don’t like kicking it out of bounds.
“The Bears have a rock star…His name is Devin Hester” - Peter King, Sports Illustrated”
Peter King, at the wheel of the Devin Hester bandwagon, likes the Bears this week, 23-20, on a late Hester field goal -
I can see Monday's game story today. PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Devin Hester returned a punt 106 yards, caught a 99-yard touchdown pass, kicked three field goals after Robbie Gould went down with a hamstring pull, and drove the team bus to the airport after the game when the driver fell ill after being bitten by a rabid Philadelphia dog, leading the Bears to a 23-20 victory over the Eagles.
Prediction before the game
Coach of the Year Balloting Has Closed
KTD.com would like to recognize Denver’s Mike Shanahan as coach of the year, while the season is not over yet (though the Broncos’ may be) we here at KTD.com feel that no other coach would be able to top what Mike Shanahan did late yesterday afternoon. Look, we love Devin and we wouldn’t have done what Shanny did after that Punt Return. Has Mike seen the Bears O this season? You giving them the ball on their own 40 is not a reward, they can’t go 25 yards for a field-goal, much less 60 yards for a TD. We understand were hurting our own cause admitting this stuff but we’re pretty sure we’re not the only ones who notice these things…well except for Mike Shanahan and for that blindness we are proud to honor him with the 1st Annual KTD.com Coach of the Year Award.
